What, exactly are you repairing?

I see a worn wheel and likely broken wheel(s), but nothing obvious pertaining to the "grease" issues others are commenting on.

The press wheels split . Maybe I can get the guys who think thats caused by not greasing to ride on the back with a paint brush to grease the wheels

You want to grease the outside diameter of the press wheels ? To keep them from splitting how many times on a 20 mile trip will you need to grease it ? Just wondering because the manual does not mention greasing the outside of the press wheels
 
The wheels split had to redo the whole one gang of press
wheels the ones on the other drill are starting to split on a
couple of them
 
Just curious SV, what are you planting? My out fit has a different kind of roller. A 3/8 thick wall piece of pipe with a disc blade welded in each end. I have to take it 2 miles down the road each way. Has sealed bearings on each end.

Do the press wheels remain in contact with the road during transport on that particular model of drill? Or do they lift with the openers?
 
Peas and oats today . Some 3 way in the next couple days . If its over ten miles I haul it lot easier on press wheels . These old drill used to be in a set of 4 and they made a 50 mile one way trip twice a year between farms :
 
They are on the ground all the time . Rebuilt the one side need to do the other got one broken and a few others are starting to split
 
I can see a trailer making sense then, but 50 years isnt bad.
If you replace all of them you might not have to do it again if the new ones last another 50 years. If not then, do you need press wheels? Or can your run a cultimulcher through after?
 
Swath it and bale it . The press wheels drive the drill and pack the seed no sense trying to reinvent the wheel thats why I use a trailer so the press wheels dont have to wear out
