I ran across some old pictures taken in the 1950s. First thing I though, Barney is inspecting the grain augar.

Not sure when grain dryers were invented. I know this picture was taken some where after the flood on 1954 and 1957 when we moved to Knox and dad got into the dairy business.

My dad could be his twin! I remember him dressing exactly like that for about twenty years after he came back from the War.

No guards on anything. How did we survive. We had belts like that had to bump them with your hand to tighten them to get them rolling. Don't know what brand of dryer that is, we had a Habco at that time frame, but ours was pto drive.

it looks like a GREAT AMERICAN. No one today can muster the strength and vitality to work alongside him. DAY in DAY OUT, week after week, fixing, repairing, building ,wisely, investing wisely, enduring set backs ,hardships, but always keeping a good demeanor that is slow to anger, If angered ,He worked hard to make it right. If He is cut Or bruised, He wrapped it up with a old shirt and kept working. any cut or laceration had kerosene or diesel fuel poured on it as a antiseptic, followed by yellow wound powder. These men were easy to LOVE, because They were always content, yet constantly willing to make improvements. They seldom complained ,but would raise up instantly against a injustice. They responded well to kindness and were grounded from the beginning of life a faith in our Lord Above and the Good Book he gave Us. Women were eager marry them and to please them, and help them. And most of all, felt very blessed to carry a child for them and raise a great family with a man like that. GREAT AMERICANS , WORLD WAR 2 and Korean War vets. These men were the tall oaks i was raised up around. I had neighbor farmers as a boy that were a lot like i describe above. I trusted them with My life. Nearly everyone in town were very much as trustworthy. i wish that were still true today.

I am describing My Dad above, but in all Honesty,His uncles and brothers and my neighbors were just like this. REAL Men.that are probably spinning in their graves over the ineptness of cowards in charge of our wonderful country. They would join Me in anger against such a senseless decline of Our Nation, which is making US vulnerable to our enemies.

I have two neighbors each missing a finger because they would get the slippage out of the belt by pushing down on it. Both got their finger rolled between the belt and pulley.
