GMC TRUCK PLUGS

It was a struggle for an old man to get these plugs out.

Hardest part getting the plug wires off.

I think this may be the original plugs 123k miles.

The gap on old plugs .055. New plugs .060.

I tried to change the plugs on my 2004 GMC at about 100,000 miles. After changing four of the eight plugs I decided that the local blood bank was a less painful way to get rid of the excess blood in my body. I paid the local garage to change the rest.

I think they might have sold you the wrong plugs. With 123,000 miles on the old ones they would have started life gapped at .040. Plugs are normally pre gapped nowadays for the application. From the ealier post Hobo showed both gaps being used so there would be two different plug numbers.

NO way. I put in new plugs, wires and distributors. I hope they last 123K.
You are welcome to my old plugs.
I used anti seize and silicone grease so if there is a next time it will be easier. Chances are in 123k I will be long gone.
New plugs, new wires, new distributor and a 15 year old truck. This old truck may be my last truck.
Don't use it like I used to to tow a tractor to mow a rental property. Sold the property.
Trailer hasn't moved in a year...

I called the dealer where I bought the truck new in 07. I asked what plug to use and the gap.
I installed the right plug and the right gap.

Spark plugs seem to last a long time here. This 97 Blazer, as far as I know, is still running fine on the original plugs at over 170,000 km. I know for sure they have been in the engine since 2002. I hear they are pretty difficult to remove on a 4.3 V6 so guess I am in no hurry to find out.

Those look to me like 100k mile OEM Iridiums like are in my 2011 Silverado. I use Iridiums in my boat also and the engine requires 0.040 and the ones I use are pregapped to 0.030 like most plugs these days. I just regap to the required speck but be very careful as the tip is said to be fragile and you can break it off. I buy my Iridiums on ebay at great prices.
