Going wk 6 1/2 still no start maybe got some of the problems figured out. Removed gas tank removed valve cover going to check tappet clearance. WOW figured something out. Doing this cold. Now this thing came to me from a friend and said can you get it running OK Ill try. What I have determined is that valve adjustment was very tight. I have a feeler gauge that goes down to very small increments one of the increments is .0015 increments that appears what the previous person has set the valves at. WOW no wonder I cant get this to start but Im gonna keep trying.

In your previous post on this you said it showed 120psi
for compression on two of the cylinders. In my opinion
it should have ran or at least fired on those two
cylinders. I wonder since the lash was that tight if a
variation in the cam lobe base circle was enough to
open a valve slightly at top dead center and then
released the compression before it was able to fire. I
am surprised that it did not do a lot of backfiring out of
both the intake and exhaust. It must have been
pumping some air to blow the mouse nest out of the
exhaust and you also said it had suction with your
hand on the carb inlet. If I was in your shoes I would
need to throw a dial indicator on the intake and
exhaust valve push rods and turn it by hand up past
TDC compression and see if there is movement from
the cam base circle that could have been releasing the
compression. Will be interesting to see if it runs after
the valve set.

Thanks for info. Wanted to add. When I brought #1 to tdc on compression stroke I couldnt even get the .0015 gauge to even slide in on the intake.
