Another will it pull it ?

I have a JD 420 S that is one of the primary gardening tractors. A neighbor has a used KMC field cultivator that he's interested in selling reasonably. Question is, if it was cut down to 4 to no more than 5 foot wide, would the tractor be able to handle it weight wise ? I do have the 1 slab weight on the front.I know it should actually pull it good. It's constructed of 2x3 tubing and flat bar with the double rolling
baskets on the back. Looking for an easier way to field cultivate in the garden without having to fetch a big tractor across the county.

You could remove one of the rolling baskets if they are one in front of the other and it should still do a good job.
We use to run a Dual with one rolling basket and it did a great job.

Yes it's a 3 pt model. I was a little concerned about it sticking back so far by design that it would be way to heavy for it.

Currently it is a 14 foot wide model which is way too big. It'd take a 90 hp tractor at least to use it as is now. My plan was to trim it down to the appropriate width and use the leftover parts on some of the other equipment.

I don't have a picture of it but it is pretty much like this Unverferth brand we have except with double baskets, no rake, and no row markers. They typically set back about 6 to 8 ft behind the tractor. I can get this one reasonable enough to make it the width I need and use the remainder parts for another project versus buying a new 4 or 5 ft one for more $$$.
