350 JD mower question

Does anyone on here know where you check or add oil to the gearbox on a John Deere 350 sickle mower? I got mine ready to use but would like to make sure the gearbox has oil/grease in it. I looked in the ops manual but only thing it shows is a grease fitting near the gearbox.

I'm unaware that a JD 350 sickle mower has a gearbox. Yes it has a drive head that contains tapered roller brgs that are lubricated by greasing at grease fittings.

x2. No oil, no gears, just a crank and bearings to drive the cutter bar. Finding the front bearing grease fitting may require rotating the flywheel to spot it and it can be over pressured. That is called out in the manual.

Link to the drive box parts page. Item key #39 is the relief fitting mentioned in the OM.

There are two grease fittings.

Take a look at the photos below.

One grease fitting on top.

Hope this helps.
