John deere 410 E backhoe

My backhoe starts & runs fairly good. But if it is shut off or dies. You have to wait 30/40 minutes until it will start again. Question is: do you think that it is hydrologic pressure that has to Dissipate Or what?

Do you wiggle/rock the steering wheel rapidly while trying to start it? If you don't, try doing it. If it cranks better and starts there is likely a small leak some where that tells the pump it needs to build pressure. Wiggling/rocking the steering wheel lowers the pressure being developed requiring less force to crank the engine. If the starter is getting tired that doesn't help either. Both things are more likely to show up when the engine is up to temperature.

Does rocking steering wheel from side to side have same affect on pressure compensating load sensing hyd system such as 410E compared to older closed-center hyd system?

Hello Mountain welcome to YT! What Jim has
proposed is one possible problem. Another is that the
starter is getting worn and then the engine is not
cranking fast enough to fire it. And.or batteries the
batteries are weak. Third is only a possibility if your
engine has an injection pump and not a common rail
system. The possibility is that the injection pump is
getting worn and there is to much clearance in the
head and rotor and when hot will not provide proper
pressure to the injectors at cranking speed. Does the
engine crank at a speed similar to when the engine is
cold or is it rolling over slowly?

I'll admit I do not know on a 410E, but figured it is worth a try as a starting point, as it shouldn't harm anything.

It sounds like he is going to need to get the technical manual out and do the diagnosis

A question I should have asked is: How fast is it cranking over when it won't start? Does it crank as fast as it does cold?
