Tractor and engine magazines

The old magazines have been piling up and its time for them to go. I do like reading a real magazine over reading online, but its a fact if you're looking for technical help going online is much faster. So they pile up but never looked at again. Some like Red Power Magazine are extremely high quality, its a shame just to pitch them. I gave some to the local library, was thinking maybe the nursing homes? Would preschools want to cut them up for crafts? Looking for repurposing ideas, thanks.

Id suggest post same on red power , got rid of my red power magazine s like you want to 10 years ago 'got 4 maybe interested ,had to say no to some , first in first out .

I have boxes of old Hot Rod, Historical construction, and Caterpillar magazines here I would like to find a home for.

The places you mention are up to their eyeballs in old magazines. They don't need or want more.

Everybody has old magazines that they hoard because they're "too good to throw away." They try to pawn them off on schools, libraries, nursing homes, doctor's offices, etc..

The truth of the matter is young people don't read magazines and old people already have magazines.

If you're not keeping them to look at later, do yourself and the world a favor, and toss them in the recycle bin. Yes it's a shame but you'll have to get over it.

Doug I might be interested in some of them. Where are you located in Iowa. I'm in SW Iowa. Gerald

Shipping costs could be high unless you use media mail, and delivery can be suspect with media mail. Try selling them on Craig's List and Facebook Market Place. Be very patient, it could take only hours or many months for someone to respond.

Instead of offering them to school libraries who in turn really don't want them due to the simple fact that they WONT shelve them on there shelves, why not offer them to FFA advisors/4H sponsors?!! Not that they will do anything with them such as a project, or anything like that, but atleast offer them to the kids for free to take home. Many of those kids or thier parents are likely not subscribers to such magazines. You could always tell them to take what's left over to the recycle drop off. Might be better than taking them directly to recycle yourself, even if only a few get re-circulated.
You might offer them on a online dollar auction. They might be of interest to a non-subscriber for reading material. Alot of good reading in those things. Only part of the magazines that go bad for reading material is the classifieds which is time sensitive.
There's alot of people out there
that would read like say, a red power magazine, if it were free to them, but won't subscribe to it because thier main interest is in another line of tractors and perhaps thier subscriptions that they do take are in line with that. Not everyone can afford to subscribe to everything, and have to limit thier subscriptions to thier main interest. And it's more about that, than it is they wouldn't read it.

Just stick with it. They were accumulated over years, and you can't expect them to disappear over night. That would require a match, or a direct trip to the recyclers.

Nursing home in a nearby rural hamlet has many old farmers stuck there. I gave a large stack of old tractor/engine mags to them and they were so appreciative I was amazed. Before I got out the front door most of the stack was in the hands of many guys in their day room. Gave me a lot better feeling than if I had tossed out or, worse yet, sold them.

Near Marshalltown. I get all over the state on adventures of various types from time to time, happy to give you any you want. For some reason I can't turn the email thing on anymore so use this - dougbetts - at - heartofiowa - dot - net and we can take it offline.

Can I ask what auction site? I have Red Power from issue number one on, Antique Power for years, many duplicates because my dad and I both got them and Gas engine Magazine from probably 30 years. Email open

I give my car, train, old engine and tractor magazines to a local elementary
school teacher. She said the kids really like them and it encourages
to read.
