oil bath air filter cup water infill REVISIT From 2 -3 w

was out to move our tractor this eve >>>>> checked the oil bath portion of the air filter [ when I last ran the tractor about 2 weeks ago / IHC Farmall BN/ I emptied the oil out; leaving none there] found only a small amount of water in the bottom of the oil bowel so the only conclusion I am able to come to AT THIS POINT IN TIME is that the condensation is caused by cold air being heated ; since the breather filter portion is inside the Heat house/ wind breaker. As the weather warm up and I take the winter housing off I will again check the bowel as I run with out the heat houser and see if moisture collects in the bowel; if none then refill with oil.

We have the jar type pre cleaner on our SH and our other Letter series. We also have XXX series with louvered intake vent in the rear cowling. We have never had water in them for 73 years. Oil changed about every 3 weeks in dusty conditions, and annually as they have less to do. Jim

Before the water problem was the tractor operated in snowing or blowing snow conditions?

I was out with the trailer and snow blower to clean neighbourhood lanes so there was some snow about but not blowing when the tractor was running, but before and after when shut off. I have thought of finding the glass bottle pre cleaner; not at top of my list though; they look neat and served the purpose when they were in use.

Condensation takes place when warm air is cooled. My recollection is that the B air intake is a hemispherical cap with screen on the bottom that requires the incoming air to go up. A moderate wind will blow rain right into the air intake of my old Fords if it comes from the tractor's left side.

My H always gets some water in the air cleaner bowl, when I change it the oil is milky. Not sure how but it gets in.

I just changed the oil in our H it looked fine except for the dirt it collected. No water in the oil. IT sets inside everyday about. Only time it might spend a night out id if it is on the auger for filling or emptying bins. Very rare for it to sit out even then.
