Lol, my son is a doctor and that is a real issue. In my case however, it saved my life. So there are two sides as always.
 
If modern doctors were better at their job and could think outside the box that college, drug companies, and insurance companies put them in, patients wouldn't have to scour the internet trying to diagnose themselves. Doctors are taught to treat symptoms, not causes. My wife has had to use the internet for diagnosis, and has been proven right.
 
After my family Dr couldn't figure out my problem, I went to web.md and mayo clinic site.. Then went to my ENT and confirmed my suspicion. I was right. I fired my family DR

Went to family Dr yesterday. He's running tests on my suspicions.
He a nice Dr. and somewhat of a family friend. He went to HS with my daughter and my SIL is his friend.
 
Not funny, that is what I have to say to my doctor when I see him. He just gives be a blank stare and then looks it up on the internet like he has never heard of it before.

Things are changing. Used to be if you mentioned something you heard or read on the internet, the doctor was offended. Not so much anymore. You know your body better than anybody, so you are your first line of defense.
 
I've had the same Primary Care Physician for 30 some years. I have always trusted and believed in his treatment for me. He said to me that the biggest problem with the medical profession today is they don't listen to their patients. i think that is true.
