International fuel pump

International 2400 is missing the fuel pump on side of motor. I'm struggling a bit finding one. Some suppliers say this part is correct , others says for diesel only. Ours is a gas burner. Any thoughts?

The 454 that we had had a C157 gas engine in it and had a mechanical fuel pump. The 464 that we had, which is the same tractor just slightly newer model, had a D 179 diesel that did not have a mechanical fuel pump. Only the injection pump which was gravity fed from the tank.

Hi Grandpa, which gas engine is in your IH 2400, a C-157 or a C-175? They were built with both engines, 2400A had the C-157 and the 2400B had the C-175. Sometimes the same parts were used on the IH 504 utility tractors. The engine model should be stamped on a boss on the block.

Go to McMaster Carr and get some diaphragm sheet and cut out new diaphragm , fix the one you have as a suggestion .
How much is that pump ? 150

While original may be the goal, the cost and hassle of trying to find original parts for an orphan like this may be more trouble than it is worth.

You can get a click-clack pump for a few bucks at any auto parts store. Cut a block-off plate and make a gasket for it out of an old cereal box. Mount the click-clack pump tastefully and connect it so it activates with the key switch.

As a last resort you can put a electric pump inline put it on the ignition switch so it comes on when you turn it on. Just be sure to get one with a max of 5 psi so your carb won't flood.

The 574 I worked on had a fuel pump but it was by passed by lifting the fuel tank up higher. Old tank had been removed due to being full of rust

(quoted from post at 23:58:54 03/02/22) What's a click-clack pump?
I assume a click-clack pump refers to an electric fuel pump that pulses to move a piston to move the fuel instead of a rotary pump that has more of a wrrrr sound like a steady running motor. Older combines that had engines up higher and the tanks lower had them. IH 403 and 715 are the ones I am familiar with, other brands had them as well.

Grandpa, I would check on their return policy, to make sure they will take it back if it does not fit. Your tractor model is on the list.

I would bet it would run off the top half with out a pump just flow. The bottom of the tank is just about even with the filters on our diesels (574,674) they don't have a pump except the injection pump. Needs to flow through a filter so I still think it would run off the top half without the pump if you need to try starting it for service work or even running aroun till it go to low.
