I enjoyed looking at the repair projects Hobo describes. Not something I would even consider doing myself, too complicated. Then today I decided to get my 48 Cj2A out of storage and of course no start. No gas getting thru the carb. The Carter WO isn't complicated; just take it apart, give it a good cleaning, put back together and it was running. But it occurred to me that in 1948 a lot of farmers had started out looking at the rump of a horse, taking a carb apart must have looked just as complicated as today's complex engines look to me. Though I doubt many 2022 models will be tinkered with in 2097.

Guess it all depends on what you grow up with.

Put me in a barn with a naked horse, and a room full of tack, I would have no clue where to start!

Give points and carbs any day over injection and computers! Small block Ford or GM. Can make them purr. Newer stuff I'm pretty much an oil change and brakes.

Thanks Doug.

I am not trying to boast myself its a look into the real world of my profession that gets hammered BAD. There are a few others that post help on automotive issues I like to here from Sprint6, 4Play, and Bob (where's Bob) that know their stuff very well my apologies if I left others out.

Its a never ending education you have to say on top of it and still you will lose your shirt : ( Most are in bed at 10PM what an I doing I am watching Scanner Danner on youtube. I should be in Florida crappie fishing its an addiction one that's hard to shed.

Some of this can get over your head I don't quit you have to find the time to figure it our. Time is the major issue.

2 part this is the second part a common issue a issue that if you are not tooled up for its hard to give a rock solid recommendation for. Believe me when I say this I am asked for help from another shop they have never put a fuel pressure gauge on it are don't have one. I am gonna try a hyperlink again wish me luck.

When I first started turning wrenches back in the 70's, wasn't much I wouldn't do. I was addicted. For years I could do, and did, most any job. Somethings were so hard and complicated, taking six ways to Sunday to get done. After doing that for years, I had to ask myself, just cause I could do something, why should I?

Just needed someone to tell me to stop.

Boy fishing sure sounds good 'bout now.

Never too late to re-prioritize.

I understand, when I talk to young auto mechanics I tell'em at 45 you will come to a fork in the road stay in the trade are get out. You will have a good 20 years to max out another trade/job if you stay where you are at its the law of this trade you will work at it till the day you die.

Auto mechanics is a "production" job are is that word banded from out vocabulary. I got my fishing out of the way when I was young enoufh to enjoy it : )
