Kinze 82D planter - when was it made and purpose

Have a chance to buy a Kinze 82D planter set up for 11 rows of 15 inch soybeans. The planter is sort of a double frame which allows all 11
rows to be on the back bar spaced at 15 inches each. Were these planters built before the actual Kinze double frame planters were built
(models 2000 and 3000)? The one I am looking at is like the picture I posted except there is no tillage tool on front. The primary problem
I see is that the units are so close repairs and maintenance on an individual unit may be difficult. Appreciate any opinions. Thanks.

That set up is great if you want a real fine seedbed and have no rocks or old crop residue. It would certainly plant nice. would not work for me.

You can get frame mounted setbacks that place every other row about 18 inches further back. That gives more room to remove individual seed boxes if needed, plus reduces the chance of plugs as there is more space between opener discs to allow trash to flow through.

You can see it sorta on the second picture of my planter...a 4 x 30 double frame with interplants making it a 7 x 15 bean planter.

The pictured planter would not work in my wet clay. Need to do tge tillage and then wait for the dirt to dry a few hours at least.

Lots of good comments on staggering the boxes.

An issue with the planter you describe, if it is just like pictured without the tillage tool in front, boy that would be heavy in back and put upward lift on the tongue, that can make for a squirrels implement to control.

Why not just put some push units on the front to balance it out of the tongue is to light or tractor not big enough. this would help with trash flow and serviceability. As for your question just set the rows beside where you want to work on blocks set planter down now the rows will have room to work on them. If doing the whole planter set every other one on blocks the change the blocks when done to do other rows.
