My neighbour across the road came over this evening to get a bale of hay for his calves, with his 190 AC/gas. This tractors primary job is snow removal. These old gas tractors didnt get as wore out as their diesel counter parts. Guys just didnt like the cost of that gas. But for the work this fella has for his tractor blowing snow and a bit of loader work, its perfect!

I was looking for a gas when I bought my last tractor kinda glad I didnt get one . Still wouldnt mind having one though

Those AC 190's and 190 XT's were a staple around here but most were diesels. Also, many 180's, 185's, and 200's as well around.

My son in law's uncle had a 190 gas. He joked that you could never fill the gas tank if it was running.

Wow. Your neighbor really takes good care that tractor. Even keeps the windows wiped off. I bet everything on his place is well kept. Am I right?

My uncle bought a 1800 Cockshutt/Oliver new in the 60s, yellow coloured with a cab. By the time the 70s rolled around, he didnt use that tractor nearly as much as he had. He lived in South Saskatchewan, and used it doing summer fallow. After 1973 he was back doing summer fallow on his old JD D /diesel. Said he just couldnt feed that horse.

Nice tractor. But the Frey Loader caught my eye. Grew up with a loader exactly like that on a Deutz tractor 30 years ago. Was a great loader. Brought back memories.

I like having a gas tractor around. At 0 degrees this morning all I had to do is pull the choke and hit the starter. Fired right up and fed cattle.

That photo needs to be converted to a 500 or 1,000 piece puzzle and then mounted on a wall. That will make the cold winter days go faster.

For a retiree or part timer that only needs to run the tractor less than 100 hours per year the difference in fuel costs is not substantial. It will take decades before the lower purchase price is offset by the higher fuel cost. The problems with those old gas tractors are that they all 50 plus years old now, are getting hard to find, and the only cabs available on them are the old ear-beaters.

Started right up. You can see the hungry cows looking through the gate. Diesels are all napping.

I couldn't afford diesel initially and ran gas. Always had problems with fuel and ignition. Went to diesels as finances improved and problems evaporated including but not limited to fuel related problems disappearing. Will never go back!
