Onan Kubota engine swap

Started on the engine swap in my skid loader this weekend. Had to shorten the oil pan 3 to get the crank to be at the right hight. To keep the oil volume as close as possible I made it 4 wider. I used some off the stainless steel from that bulk tank I scrapped a while back.

Next was to make the motor mounts. That was more complex than I expected because I had to get out around the pan, then back under to get mounted to the base plate. It also had to bolt together so it could come off. So I started with a 3 x 1/4 angle on the motor and another under the pan. Then welded a smaller angle to the engine angle so it could bolt to the bottom angle, which is bolted to the base plate.

Here it is in the loader.

Next was the radiator. I originally thought it would go on the door, but that didn't work. And putting it right behind the motor wouldn't work because you would have to remove it to get to the oil filter and such. So I put it above the engine and behind the cab.

Also got the throttle and fuel shut off cables done. That's about where it's at now. Got the plumbing parts today and will work on that tonight. I have new gages too and will have to get them installed. Hope to have it running in a day or two.

Lots of nice work, that two cylinder is one tough little engine. Wish we were closer I could have helped you out , I think a refer oil pan would have worked have plenty of the gauges and cables I part a lot of KUBOTA mowers . Hope you can get the engine speed up top where your pumps will work, I have no idea how fast the onan was turning.

Great workmanship, well done. The oil pan fabrication exceptional. So no fan with the radiator, that'll be OK ??

I did shorten it 1 inch. It was up off the bottom a lot and qould have been right at the bottom now. It should be up an inch now.

Nice work. It is great that you can do your own modifications to make it fit. I would imagine hiring a shop to do a transplant like that would be cost prohibitive! I hope it makes a great unit for you.
