Have any diesel mechanics who post here heard of a book by Sean Bennett covering lots of topics related to medium and large diesel engines? The book is more for trucks than anything agriculture. I don't plan to become a diesel mechanic, but I've been reading the book and it is interesting. My main reason to read it is that I wanted to understand (if possible) why the International Maxx Force engines are not well liked.

I think the main reason was that navistars strategy to meet emissions was using EGR only, instead of selective catalyst reduction and diesel particulate filters.it was problematic (and didnt work) Plus, egr coolers can leak coolant into the engine, even saw a heui pump go out and contaminate the injectors with stripper glitter.

I seen a u tube clip, about 20 minutes long, hes a young man, that's tell all about the relationship between Ford and IH, tell all the important stuff about all the engine's that Ford used, it was quite interesting, but i cant remember whats the title was, just look up you tube clips!

I never really 'got to' work on one, but the side of the engine was plumbed like 4 layers of piping deep before you got to the side of the engine. The big engines had 2 radiators, not sure about the smaller ones. Mark.
