Extra power for plowing years ago

My great Uncles rigged up a Wisconsin or Gibson , maybe even a Kohler motor from the flywheel side of the tractor transferring power by belt to the flywheel ,. It gave the VAC Case and John Deere A s a little more uumphhh for puling plows . Any of you fellas ever heard of Such?

Read an article several years back. After WW2, there was a growing demand for bigger tractors and manufacturers were not keeping up. One trick was to join two tractors head to toe and operate from one seat. There was apparently a lot of surplus Wisconsin V-4 air cooled engines available. Some owners would bolt a Wisconsin on rails out front of their tractor and run a belt to the side PTO pulley to feed the power into the transmission. The other was to make a bracket, mount it at the rear of the tractor, and back feed power into the rear PTO shaft. Creative engineering at its finest !

I saw two tractors connected one behind the other at Red Power Round Up. An M and a Super M if I remember correctly. Linkage running from rear tractor to behind the sear of the front tractor controlled throttle and clutch of rear tractor. Front axle of rear narrow front was bolted to drawbar of front tractor. This unit was used for plowing, the combo would pull a 5 bottom plow if I remember correctly. Doesn't seem like front bolster would be strong enough to push the front tractor but owner said it was used for years.
Also saw a Trucktor. An IH pickup truck with a tractor as the rear end. Again, control linkage running from the cab of the pickup back to the tractor to control shifting and clutch. Looked like a very useful unit.

I was too young to know any details, when I was a kid, one guy had a Wisconsin motor mounted along side of a John Deere 70 or 720 and belted it to the belt pulley. Used the added power for plow river bottom gumbo.

I've seen pictures of belting a small gas engine to a tractor for extra power. I've never seen one in person.

I've seen MM's, Deere R's and Deere D's set up nose to rear with hydraulic
steering, even on the D's.

I read an article about a guy doing it with a small gas engine belted to the flywheel Ive never seen it done
