John Deere Shortages

I spoke with my local John Deere dealership today in west Michigan, was advised there is shortages on everything, including filters. However if you do need anything, there is a sale this month on oil and filters. Also, you may want to get your tractors and equipment revalued for insurance purposes.

Ordered a new JD 835M gator back in the beginning of Jan, got a call Wednesday that it was ready to go. It sure is a nice machine heat and air Radio power steer hydro dump box winch we have 30 miles on it now. Randy

Hope these pictures upload, my local Deere dealer looks like a vacant lot. They have a few new 5000 series tractors up front, some planting equipment on the secondary lot and a few new and used mowers. 40 years never seen it this empty at any time. Two acquisitions, Great Recession, always had something in this lot. Very strange to see. The strike and nnalert shortages did take their toll.

Been on a list for a HPX with gas engine since last fall. It was supposed to be here before Christmas but then JD struck. Now maybe mid Feb.

And on the filters, you will be lucky if you can get a JD branded oil or hydraulic filter. Dealer says no JD oil or hydraulic filters since last year. They are substituting with an off-brand.

Seen the filter sale going on yesterday when I was at the dealership, picked up a oil filter for a 6300 tractor, I didn't know about the filter shortage. It was the usual made in Mexico Deere oil filter.

If you were able to obtain a filter there is no shortage, at least not with regards to your filter.

This crying shortage to induce panic buying and hoarding, thus creating a self-fulfilling prophecy, is short sighted. What are you going to do when everyone buys a 3-year supply of filters and don't come back for 3 years?

I know one thing there is NO shortage of anymore, is used cars on dealer lots. Drove down fly-by-night-dealer row last Wednesday and the lots are PACKED.

Used cars do seem to be more plentiful than a few months ago, the pickup truck supply still looks a little tight by just looking at the lots.
