This is pic of the volt

This I'd the cranking amps . Very close to what the manufacturer rates amps at.

BTW. most batteries, the top posts are centered. I need offset posts

So do they not have the battery you have in the photo. That is the best $50 battery on the market. I use them on lots of stuff. It has offset post.

Is that an AGM battery like you said you only wanted to buy in your other post? It doesn't look like one from what I see, ones I have seen say AGM on the labeling. If RK really sells AGMs for 49.99, I wish they were around here.

Jerry,
The battery in the post is the $50 battery from RK.
Room temp cranking amps 660.
It has no side posts.
The battery adapters are from Menards.
Just fits in my battery holder.
The posts are offset.
Delco batteries at Menards are 2x more costly, no side posts, and adapter isn't long enough.
I had to grind on the fender so adapters are away from fender.

Well you know how I feel about that lying tester. I will say I have never had an issue with those adapters.

I don't have a problem with shooting some red paint on the positive terminal : )

Well you know how I feel about that lying tester.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion here.
Hard to argue the tester comes very close to what the
manufacturer says the battery is rated at and the voltage too.

No one tester tells the whole story.

Have a good day.

But not AGM, right? I thought you had found the answer to a battery need I have. AGM of that size to go under the seat in my project truck, for a great price. Then I see it is 'designed to be maintenance free - under most circumstances. Drat!

What type of battery is a maintenance free battery?
Unlike flooded rechargeable batteries, sealed rechargeable batteries do not contain a liquid that will spill out if the battery breaks. Instead, sealed rechargeable batteries hold only enough liquid to allow the electrolytes to flow. These types of batteries are also known as maintenance-free batteries.

AGM batteries are a maintenance free alternative to traditional flooded lead-acid batteries. They are designed to provide powerful bursts of starting amps and run electronics for a longer period of time

This is a maintenance battery. So if it's not an AMG then what is it??? Answer: It's good enough for me....

Please tell me the difference between maintenance free and AMG battery.

Whatever works!

If it were me I would have spent $10 more for the same RK battery number 78DT-60, 650CCA vs 550CCA.
Same model but has both top and side terminals, a bit shorter in length and height but a quarter inch wider.
Instead of spending $10 on adapters and introducing more connections in the system.
Plus you would not have had to butcher out the fender flange.

Butter get some paint or grease on that raw steel soon!

It's your money, please buy what you want.

My battery is a 650 ca.
The battery with side terminals is not maintenance free and $10 more.
Adapters is a $9 one time purchase and I can use them on my next top terminal battery.

Why are side terminals going out of fashion?
My XT5 has a huge top terminal battery, measured 1100 amps when new.

Yours is 525CCA and 650CA, there is a difference between CCA and CA.
The 78DT-60 has 650CCA and 780CA

Both batteries are billed as *Designed for Maintenance Free Performance*
Same model Classic

But anyways,
Does your caddy use the stop and start, stop and start ??? That would be why the high capacity battery.
Some cars even have two batteries.

GM stopped using the side terminals about ten years ago, they are now a die ing breed. There will be a lot of adapters or new cables being sold now on.

AGM batteries can be installed on their side and are certified for light aircraft use. And they can be installed in enclosures with very little venting needed. Thus my need for one to mount inside the cab in a sealed box with only a small hose to the outside. Similar to the interior installation in a lot of newer cars. Grandson's GMC SUV had it under the passenger floor in front of the second row seat. Specified as AGM only.

Maintenance free can be AGM, or simply a sealed flooded cell battery with 'normal' plates.

Are your Farmall and Kubota the same? They are both tractors.

The difference here is not between maintenance free and AGM, the difference is between the wet/flooded cell and AGM battery construction technologies. Both technologies can be considered maintenance free (that * in the maintenance free* disclaimer on the battery you purchased means " *under normal operating conditions"). You purchased a "maintenance free*", wet/flooded cell type construction battery, not an AGM type construction battery. AGM is generally considered maintenance free by nature of the AGM construction technology, which entraps the electrolyte solution allowing them to be mounted on their sides if needed.

You just wanted the $49.99 maintenance free* battery from RK: not an AGM battery. (Nowhere on the battery, or online, do I see that the battery you got says it is sealed.) You got the type, $, battery you wanted but your original description wasn't right for what you purchased.

Just for the record, the RK online details for the battery DoubleO7 mentioned reads the same as the one you purchased "Designed for maintenance free* performance". (As does the $49.99 78-60 side terminal battery, no adapters would have been needed.) I believe a group 78, not 24, was the correct battery for many GM pickups around the vintage of yours.

Whatever, I bought what I wanted. End of story.
The battery I bought you can't pry off the caps and add water..
The battery that has side posts is a wet cell, you can pry off
the caps....
It says maintenance free. It's the only battery that will
fit....IF you feel better, Call whatever you want... I don't
really care.

With many that showed low voltage in the 12.2 to 12.4 range new off the shelf I asked the manufacture this is their reply.

I don't like it either it is what it is... They also said do not charge new battery's in stock till its installed. So far so good I will take their word.

Todays starters and VVT will perform well at lower voltage it makes it a hard sale to tell a customer his battery is failing when he states it starts well.
