Oil pressure lead

Hello would anyone happen to know if it is possible to clean a clogged oil pressure guage lead? My oil pressure guage is not working. I took the lead off of the engine block and started the tractor. It pumped oil out like crazy. I put the lead back on the engine block and left it unhooked from the oil pressure gauge. I ran the tractor for around a min with no oil coming out of the lead at all. So I'm assuming it's plugged up. I tried blowing it out with air compressor but it didn't help. Any help you could give would be appreciated thanks.

It doesn't seem to be pinched or anything. But I agree I think I'll put a new cooper line on. I may try blowing out with some carb cleaner first.

Using this as an example. in the refrigeration world the oil that is mixed in with the refrigerant will coat the small capillary line called the cap tube as the components of the oil break down. .030 is one size. The wax will plug the line. Certain oils are worse with the wax coming out. We had a hydraulic device that would push a wire through to clean but changing the tube is the easiest if it can be worked easy. Likely what happened.

Yes changing the tube is my only option. It's pretty rusty anyway. I just need to find some new tubing. Thanks

Replacement is best choice. I don't know how accessible the line is, but you might think about taping the new line to the old one, and use it to pull the new line thru the tin work easier.

(quoted from post at 08:18:48 02/03/22) It may not be plugged it might might be crimped or pinched, I would vote for a new copper or CuNi line, not plastic.

Is is generally NOT considered "good practice" to use copper lines on tractors as they may "work harden" from vibration and crack.

I might get chastised for this but here it
goes. I fixed my oil lead with a new piece
of aluminum tubing. It works and if it
doesn't last long and breaks it's an easy
enough fix to put something else on. But
for now problem solved. Thanks for all of
the input everyone.

Depending on the size of the line, you should be able to find a replacement at an auto parts store where they sell brake lines. You might even luck out and find one with the right fittings. As others have stated, steel is better than plastic or copper.

I found an oil pressure gauge line plugged with a small chunk of blue silicone. That tractor had not been worked on for a good many years so it took that long for the silicone to find the oil line.

If you have a mig welder run off a piece of wire and cut it and shove it through the oil line.

That copper nickel line is easy to work with and if it is good enough for brake pressure it will work for an oil gage. Flares good too.

Don't mean to hijack the thread.

My tractor has idiot lights instead of a gauge and it doesn't work. I have found the orifice where the wire connects to the tractor. Can I get a real gauge that connects to that orifice?

I'll explain how mine is. I have an Oliver 60 row crop. I have an 1/8 inch tube that connects from the side of the engine block and goes up to and connects into the back of the oil pressure guage. Using compression fittings. I'm not sure what kind of tractor you have but I would think as long as you can connect your oil pressure lead into a guage it should work to put a guage on it. I don't claim to be an expert though.
