Mowing Johnson Grass

Years ago dad rented some land in WV and it was solid johnsongrass. We would mow it in late Aug. and moldboard plow it and planted either wheat or barley. They both could be harvested before the johnsongrass was big enough to cause a problem. This was before Roundup became affordable. With todays chemicals it is easy to manage. Tom

Do not need pictures of past summers.
All I need to do is walk outside.
Suppose to be in low 70's next 3 days.
Then turning chilly again for about a week.

If you want to get rid of that Johnson grass mow it and mow it often.
Johnson grass can not survive being mowed or grazed short.

What tractor are you using. From what I can see it immediately reminds me of a massey 85 that I ran a lot 50 years ago

That looks like a mighty big field for a 2 row cultivator. Playing with our toys is fun, but if you had to rely on that for your weed control, you would have a big job ahead of you.

No you let the last cutting grow out for next year's crop. JG is your friend if you are in the haying business.....for things other than
spoiled brat horses........and their owners.
