Those hoppers would sure clear the tree branches. It was the late 60s or early 70s when the last Combine came by rail to town. I think it was
a 615 or 715 it had damage from the tree branches along the old rail bed.

A neighbouring farmer had two of those when I was in my early teens. I never saw the combines just the tanks, over the hedge, as they worked in the next field.

M-M had an assembly plant here in England at Essendine, a plant that was later taken over by Allis Chalmers.

I worked at a MM dealer. In Mill Shoals Il. We got 7 new MM combines in on the rail. 2890's 3490's and 4290's we backed a roll off truck up to the end of the rail car. And drove them off onto the truck. Talk about scary. That was about 1967 maybe 68. Never did it again! Trucked them from Peoria Il.

I worked for a Case and New Holland dealer from 1980 to 1983 and we got New Holland 495 haybines on rail cars. We would forklift them off and uncrate at the depot put the tires on and drag them to the dealership.
