Selling tractors

Thinking of selling some tractors what's
the best classifieds or online auction.I am
leaning towards auction I think it would be
less hassle.

Around here most sell on Facebook market place. Seems they sell fast too, I called on several and they were sold already in a day.

What are you looking to sell? That might help us help you. Super high-end tractors, Mecum Auctions or similar, non-running parts tractors, this site is an option, newer iron - tractor house, etc.

To me selling, - and buying, - now has become a hassle and a risky situation. There's way too much scamming going on now. Gone are the good old days when you put a classified ad in a local paper and got an honest call, person came over, looked at the merchandise, you offered him a cup of coffee, talked farming and maybe you had a deal, paid you up front and came over with his trailer the next week and picked up the goods. It's just not fun anymore. I have no real good advice about what to do in this day and age. All I can say is, - Seller beware'.

from what i have seen is let an auctioneer put it on an online auction. they look after everything and sure you pay a commission but you dont have to deal with idiots , scammers and flippers. i also noticed they sell higher this way so its a win win.

I prefer buying on auctiontime. Pretty painless process on the buyer end atleast. I typically sell on Facebook or Craigslist but either of those methods take LOTS OF PATIENCE

So you would rather pay $60 for a one day ad in the Sunday paper and have the same number of wonky phone calls, tire kickers and no shows?
Not me.
I get the same number of morons when I post an ad but at least now days the ad on Craigslist or Fecebook is free and I can delete the ad when the item is sold and stop the calls.

I havent bought a Sunday paper in over 15 years. To be honest I dont know many who do. Agree with CL and Facebook Marketplace.

Craigslist lately has alot more scammers, but had good luck in the past and recent past. I never had any luck with Facebook marketplace. Theres always YT classifieds.

i sold several on face book and few ods and ends i just put price on them no shipping you pic up at my place bring cash. no big deal reach me in facebook instant message

Craig List is just pretty much dead here but FB market place has took it,s place. I do not like it as well. It is a sellers market right now. You can sell about anything.

I just sold a tractor and trailer that I hauled it on in a Virtual Auction with no bidders at auction and it was on New Year's Eve Day. I was very pleased with the outcome. They are a local Auction company.

Good advice Ben .... might cut your customer base back somewhat but will avoid all the headaches that can go with selling.

Sold 3 Farmall cubs and a Ford this month. Advertise on Facebook marketplace. All sold with a day or 2. No scammers, no hassle, no tire kickers. Also bought a few the same way. Of course I like dealing with people, most folks interested in old tractors are good people!

Watch who's advice you take, because you're getting some here from SELLERS, who are out to get the most they can for their tractors and some are BUYERS who are out to pay the least they can for their tractors.

You listen to a buyer you're selling yourself short.

Thanks for the comments. To clear some stuff up when l said classifieds to me this is Facebook, tractorhouse, and yt. As for what I am thinking about selling is g1000 lp mm, 620 jd, 1026 mfwd international .

I have found facebook does not atract buyers. I have bought machinery for the Amish ans twice found a hay rake on craigs list that was what they wanted and was priced below market value. Both sellers had advertised on facebook for over a month, First day ad was on Craigs list called and went to look at them and bought on the spot and for their full asking price that was way lower than what the Amish wanted me to pay for those items. And I will NEVER LOOK AT FACEBOOK for anything ever, Have bought a lot off of Craigs list for them as well as local advertisments. Am now retired from doing anything like that. Too old and healyh not allowing it.
