These old beasts are pretty amazing, aren't they? Last weekend with temps in the teens but sunny, I used my Ford 860 to haul some wood pellets up to the house from the pole barn. It started so fast last month without even choking it, I figured I would video it last weekend. It was 24 degrees inside the pole barn when I gave it a go in the video link below.
Cold start no choke

I have a 1966 Massey that will start in the bitter cold too, it never lets me down. Dad bought it new it has the gas Continental Z-145 Engine. Great little tractor for sure.

Looks great Larry ! You when you get a chance warm her up and take her for a nice long ride ! Maybe build Walter a buddy seat ?

That's great Larry.
May crank a couple tomorrow and let em charge the batteries a bit.
We are having a cold winter here in NW SC.
Been burning more wood than normal.

-20 here last night. Coldest for several years. I was supposed to load 2 round bales today. Skid steer- no go. 656/loader gas- no go. 3010/bale hugger- no go. 656 no loader-started but the 3pt was way sloooow. Try again tomorrow afternoon, with heaters plugged in early.

Larry,
I can't remember the last time I fired up the Farmall, Jubilee, one terramite and Kubota. I think I'll follow your lead and see if they start.

Monday is supposed to be 45. That may be a good time to see if they all run.

I haven't driven my truck much. I think I'll be replacing the battery if it doesn't take a full charge.

Always something to do.

Not much point in starting them unless you need them for something or at least drive them around the property long enough to thoroughly bring them up to operating temperature.

A brief period of idling doesn't do them any good.

I plugged in the heater on my 2140 the last two mornings in hopes of blowing a bit of snow around the yard. But when the daytime "high" never got better than -10F I put it off. Now this morning it is -30F and at some point late this afternoon I am going to have to put a hay bale in the cattle feeder. Not sure if I can fight my way through the snow with the old Massey with a bale on the spear or if I should choose the John Deere and plow a trail through. No spear on the JD bucket so its a bit of a chore chaining a bale into the bucket and then getting it out. I know I can start either of them with enough pre-heating but... Supposed to snow again tomorrow so is it worth opening the driveway this afternoon?
