I got a response back from my friend on the weight of those logs. Purely an estimate based on the picture:

about 4 ft in dia x 20 ft long = 250 cu ft
looks like hardwood, oak = 50 lbs/cu ft
50 x 250 = 12,500 lbs x 2 = 25,000 lbs
nice logs needed bigger axles on the trailer!

I like your calculation.
Looking at the ends of the logs I'd say they're Poplar. Don't know what Poplar weighs per cu/ft but that load is way beyond the max that trailer could safely haul.
