That tractor rocked my world when it came out. Tractors were a very big thing to me and in my town there were three JDs two Farmalls two Massey Fergusons, and probably forty Fords. I had two uncles and a nearby neighbor that all farmed with Fords. In the fifties they had all had one N and some 100s. All red bellies with gray sheet metal. Then suddenly Fords were no longer all red and gray. It was shocking to 13 year old kid, and next year the red turned to blue. It was earth shattering!!
nice to see what they first looked like. i have a 4000 from early 60s ... diesel w/ backhoe and loader. had it since the 70s and still ever so handy. painted it all gray a few years ago ... the 4th time painted. seems to me there was some original blue on it though ... with 'yellow'. will share photos sometime soon.
