How many can relate?

You can add tools to that. You spend your life accumulating everything you need to do everything that you do or needs to be done. When you get old, you don't feel like doing all the things you used to do that needed the tools that you didn't have. However, the mind is in charge here. Once the mind convinces the body to react to the task at hand and the body finally agrees, the job gets done with all the tools that you have accumulated over the years. Happens to me daily!

My mind is 43. My body feels like 103. I'm only 73.
Many times my mind makes fun of my body, tells it to do something that causes my body to hurt later.

Absolutely. And in my case, a lifetime of struggle and sacrifice to build a business. My greatest satisfaction would be if I could pass it on now that it has matured. But no one in the family is interested.

Well I hit 80 this year and looking at the wrinkles in the mirror has my mind thinking I'm old......an then I think about SV.....that dynamo!!!!! A role model for anyone if there ever was one. And yes I understanding his saying that he has to be doing something....I do too. Just gotta convince the body to go along with the mind!

Well, my daddy built a restaurant business in which I started bussing tables at 12 working in my free time from school. Where others pursued sports, I worked and enjoyed spending the money I earned and developed a work ethic early on. I also learned that the restaurant business wasn't for me. He made his own steak sauce and salad dressing and marketed it commercially besides serving it in his restaurant.

He rented a section of a 3 section building. The front 2 faced the street like would be used for a retail establishment, but we made salad dressing in our section led by mom. In the rear was an automotive repair garage and machine shop. I can't tell you how many times mom came back there, grabbed me buy the ear and led me back into our side to do what I was supposed to be doing...making salad dressing.

I always felt bad about that (not carrying on the business) especially seeing dads whose offspring carried on their businesses.....I admire latinos especially for their family unity along those lines......but I just couldn't get enthused about it. I pursued electromechanical dreams and had a great time.

Wow Mark...

Cool cars, machine shop, building stuff, new challenge every day...

Or salad dressing.

Decisions, decisions!

My wife and I always said that when you raise your children to be independent, don't be disappointed when they are!

A friend of mine said in his younger days he could eat a big steak & work it off & think nothing of it, but he couldn't afford it. Now when he can afford it , he don't need it!

My wife gave me a honey-do project this morning. I just realized that I now have all the necessary tools and knowledge, but no longer have physical dexterity to put them to use.

I have had a cow calf operation for 25+ years. Wish what I know now, I knew when I first got going. I took over my dad's herd. But he wasn't much of a cowboy so to speak. So when I first took over his herd, I ran things pretty much as a continuation of the way he did things. I have changed how I do things over the years. When I reflect on it, I often wonder just how I thought certain things would work in the begining the way I was doing it. I wouldn't go back to those un-knowledgable ways for nothing, I can tell ya that. And I'm not talking about the evolution of modern equipment, and advancement of technology neither. I could also factor that in if I wanted to, but could write a chapter on that by itself. I'm just talking about good ole common knowledge of doing things.

I guess at 78 I am fairly active but I find task that I used to do in an hour may take me all afternoon. Just get really aggravated at my self but then I just count it up as getting older. I have so many toys and projects that I thought I would really get on once I sold the farm but still not happening.

I walk to the other side of something Im working on and forget what in the world I was ever doing in the first place
