Looks like your getting some needed moisture ! Very little snow here , but the ground is saturated.
 
Yea I wish I had a modest grain setup. Dad had nothing but the wood grainary and the corn crib, thats about all I still have. Too old to start something that expensive now, wouldnt get paid back but a grain setup sure pays back big over long enough a time. Id need better electric, propane setup, drier, the whole works. What I would build would be too small for the next guy. So then a lot of used, which means a lot of repairs during harvest which I dont need....

So just never got that done and built......

15 years ago I thought, well I can spend money on tile or money on a drier setup, cant afford both.

I did well with the $80,000 I put into tile. Paid back huge the past 5 of 6 years! Pays back well every year around here.

But, I still dream of having a grain setup.

Paul, we really should talk. As I have retired from row crop farming I have my small drying setup for sale. Could set you up with everything for around $10,000. I had it on Craigs list for month. Got a few calls but so far no takers. Big enough for 150-200 acres of corn.
 
Leave the doors open to help deter the rats a little bit . Im not sure the size ? I binned some grain about 30 years ago and my cousin put some in em about 20 years ago
 
A bunch of snow drifted and filled the trough and actually bought me a couple days before I had to haul again
 
If on a cement floor with with doors shut they can't get in. I put a piece of sheet steel around the open end of the load out auger so they can't get in the auger. There is a slide for the center to shut it off. This just keeps them out of the auger. I also plate the air duct for aireation if there is no air floor in them.
