Diesel Injection Pump Shut Off

I have an Oliver with a 5.9 Cummins diesel that uses a Roosamaster pump, one of my irritations is the fuel shut off cable attachment. The lever is between the injection pump and the engine block, there is no way I can get my fingers in there to stab the wire through the holder and tighten the set screw.

Does anyone have a better solution?

Thanks

I understand to a point the issue you are having, However a picture would definitely help others give you some solutions. I would suggest some type of small cable ..1/16 or 1/8 as an extension with a set screw cable stop on the end to keep the cable from pulling through the hole in the lever. Then you can connect your shut off to that behind the pump where there is adequate space. One issue you would have to keep in mind is the vibration. With cable like that fitting loose in the lever the vibration could possibly cause it to wear through the hole in the shut off lever.
