Case 630 injection pump

Happy new year!
I have a fuel pump problem that I need help with. I had some dirty fuel clog up the fuel filter on case 630 diesel several times this fall. To keep it running I would take fuel lines off going to fuel filter, clean the filter, finally replaced the filter. Now the tractor will not start except by pulling it. Tractor smokes a little but, . dont think enough to start it. Fuel is getting thru the lines to the injectors as I took all lines off and checked while cranking engine but I dont think its enough to start engine. Would problem be in the pump, or the injectors? Thanks for any suggestions!!

My guess where the feed line connects to the pump with out looking at my 900 parts book..there are some very knowledgable injection guys on here hopefully they will chime in.

Okay, I didnt try think of using an injection cleaner. I will give it a try! Cant hurt for sure!! I didnt think there was a screen in the line. Thanks for the reply!!

Battery and starter up to
par? Has to really whirl
over.. How about orings
and gaskets on filter
housings a small suction
leak can be a real problem
and will not leak fuel at
the source.good luck keep
us posted..

Battery is weak, should get starter checked, come to think of it!seems to draw some!Charger is turning it over fast though!

The fuel coming out of the fuel lines before the injectors is basically dribbling out of the lines!

I will check the safety screen,if I can find it . It acts like its not getting enough fuel to start. It will start by pulling but has to be pulled quite a ways! Thanks for the reply.

I am guessing you are answering your own question. If it starts once by pull staring it should not be a problem with bleeding or the pump unless something is causing it to lose prime. Turning over slow must be a major issue, so yes something with the starting system.

I am going to try a new battery first but why wouldnt it start with the charger hooked up? Turns over fast and smokes very little. I will Try that first though . Thanks again for the reply!
