Went to NAPA today with a filter list and #1348, which is a very common small engine filter that just happens to fit a Yanmar engined Gehl skid steer I am servicing is currently not available. Said they haven't been able to get any for 2 months. This is a good old NAPA with old guys behind the counter that know what they are doing.

Did they check other stores or just the warehouse ????

5 of my 6 closest stores have it in stock but the warehouse does not.
My local stores will not shop each other also because they are independently owned.

Might look online and see if another store in your area has it.

RockAuto has them in stock. $4.95 each. These filters would be Wix 51348, identical except for the paint on the outside. Of course, there will be shipping with that. Just for giggles, I put five of them in my cart and shipping was $8.99 via USPS. Now I realize that getting merchandise from someplace quite a ways away bothers people that want to shop local. But in the past year, a lot of items that I need have not been available locally.

Local store has 7, I have 7 on the shelf and can have 87 tomorrow. That number is one of the most popular it fits most Toyotas and other brands.

I am use to the Purolator system I mark them with the Purolator # I use the last 3 # are 4 if no 0 at the 4 position. Old habits are hard to break : )

Napa can be the worst to get a part if a independent store is out. Walker auto parts put a store here they have 35+ NAPA stores it helps but they can also be a pain if they don't have it in a store. They found me 3 radiator hoses in Florida from NAPA the shipping was $52.00 they charged me separate shipping on each hose. They were all listed at the same warehouse. Go figure...

With a little time spent on the Wix filters website you can find the specs for the filter your looking for via cross referencing to another brand.
With the specs you can find other filters with the same thread, gasket dia., bypass and psi or no bypass, micron size, overall dia. and length.
If you have the room you can many times get a longer version for more filtration.
And sometimes a more popular and thus cheaper cost filter.

My local Napa has them, in all the flavors. 1348 in a box, 1348 master pack (cellophane wrap). They also have the installer bulk Pro Select line, 21348 in both boxed and wrapped variety. Minneapolis Distribution Center has almost 600 boxed 1348. The 21348mp, there are over 115,000 in the DC pipeline.

Yes, there has been shortages on oil filters for a few months now, they are getting caught up on the GM filters, but now it is the common Ford ones that are scarce. #7502

I didn't fall off the turnip wagon yesterday.
My post wasn't about if I can cross reference the filter, of course I can. Its about shortages. We standardized on NAPA filters because the lube guy can take the old one off and get another by the number without a screwing around to figure out the right one.

Picked up a batch of filters this morning. We have an excellent NAPA. Told tbe guy about all the 1348s you guys say are sitting around and he showed me his terminal 0 in stock, 0 at warehouse, 1000s on back order, no date of availability shown. Asked him about T4 Rotella oil, he laughed, ya you and 500 others
