Block heater

Looking for information on a case 711b tractor. Suggestions on a block heater for this tractor. No freeze plugs on this 4 cyl gas engine,no heater hoses to install a tank circulation pump, magnetic heaters are not enough for the n Dakota winters, - 20ish this morning. All suggestions welcome.

Put one in the lower Radiator hose.
They work good!!.

Drilling and tapping for 1/2 NPT into the head, and then the lower block would allow for a tank heater. Lower ardiator hose heaters are availablethey work, but are sometimes in a place that causes convection into the radiator not the block.
T fittings for radiator hoses are also easy to find.
Look (with a mirror if needed) for a hose fitting in the water pump, and a drain in the block. if found (some water pumps may include threaded/plugged holes).These can be used for barbed fittings to attach a tank heater. Jim

There is a plug in the side of the block to pull the water from for a tank heater. It's on the left side. The return nfs to go to the water manifold to the rear of the thermostat. Some put a T in for the temp gage, some drill and tap for a new port. I can take pics of mine on 400 if you like

If you are in ND, buy a 1500 watt tank heater. Anything smaller may not do the job. I live in E SD...gets cold here too.

Install a 1500 watt tankheater between the block drain and the upper radiator hose.

1500 watt is good for a fast warm up but if I wanted to leave one plugged in overnight I'd want the smaller, maybe 800 watt size. My old Perkins diesel is warmed up pretty quick with the 1500 watt even at our extreme lows.

I keep mine plugged in for 3 or 4 days at a time . When it hits
30 below I figure I cant have enough heat and I dont have a
shop everything sits outside . Contrary to popular belief they
do start better Just being inside back when I had a shop to
keep em in
