hydraulic question

Im picking up a hydraulic driven snow blower for a skid steer , can a hyd motor turn in both directions without damage or will they only turn one way ?

Probably depends on the motor.
Some equipment you would NOT want to run backwards. A grain auger you wouldn't want to run backward. A post hole digger on the other hand would be handy to be able to run backwards. You could get it back out if it caught on a rock or tree root, and corkscrewed into the ground.

Motor may be equipped with a check valve to prevent the snowblower from running backward. Have a Hypro centrifugal pump on my sprayer set up that way.

All I have seen will run either direction.

Now, what ever is attached may or may not be able to run either direction, depends on the design.

Steve as a general rule you are right BUT there are some that the end plate is only ported on the input side and reversing or feeding the designed output side will cause leaks at the shaft seal. Like the poster says all dependent on the motor that is on the snow blower when he gets it.
