There are only a few covered bridges
remaining around here. You have to cross a
small creek to enter my place. Clearing
brush last year I discovered stone
foundations on both sides. I've always
wanted to build a bridge so...another
project?

With all the bracing inside I wonder why they need it outside also.

Good evening: The outside braces keep the walls from shaking from side to side. No room to put similar braces inside for the sideward movement. Just me talking....

I guess we would have to ask the owner of the bridge but having gone to all the trouble, I bet there is a good reason for the extra bracing. Maybe to address a unique problem with that bridge?
