Local store has these eggs on sale for $1.50 a dozen.
Reason I noticed them was the big display and they were the cheapest eggs in the store.
Producer seems to be proud of the fact their chickens are fed an all vegetarian feed and the birds are raised cage free based on their bold advertisement on the carton.

So educate me.

1) Is being locked in a building and walking on a poop cover floor really better than a clean wire cage??

2) Is a all vegetarian diet really good for a chicken?
I thought chickens were omnivores not herbivores.

I wouldnt trust a cage free vegetarian chicken not to eat a mouse or a bug or worm if it could get one in its beak.
This is just yet another stupid marketing ploy. When consumers demand something stores try to provide it. Same with restaurants. Right now the burger chains are being asked to prove the meat their burgers came from was humanly raised, and in a Carbon friendly environment. Mean while burgers are made from scrap trim meat, and a single burger could have the meat from as many as ten or more animals mixed together in one pattie. But the burger giants are trying to compile, and are now telling meat processing industry and farmers that they need proof that the meat they buy was raised and fed in a environmentally sustainable way, and that the animals had a happy life. So it will fall to the farmers to prove this with records and best practice protocols, paperwork paperwork paperwork. And it wont make a dam bit of difference, and the farmers wont get paid anymore for their troubles.

My neighbor sold brown eggs, farm fresh free range chickens that followed his cows around scratching for a warm meal. I believe you are what you eat. His eggs looked and smelled like no other eggs.
NO Thanks to farm fresh free range eggs.
Our pigs followed our cows around for a warm meal.
I raised a grand champion 4-H pig too.

Does anyone eat all organic POO?

Makes me wonder about all organic crap.

And everything on the internet is true. As the guy that is the french model looks like tha same guy in SV's picture there. Public will follow whatever is told them. Don't believe it look at the last 2 years.

I keep a small flock of cage free chickens and sell about 20 doz eggs a week. The big difference my customers see and me too is the brighter colored yolks that don't look as pail as the store brought eggs. I attribute it to the fact that everything I sell are all less than a week old and most of them are only 1-2 days old. I very seldom have any that are over a week old. I know most box store eggs aren't that fresh and allot of times they are months old. My chickens are confined to a coop and a fenced in yard. I market them as cage free naturally raised. I grind my own feed for them and feed them garden and non meat kitchen scraps.

On vegetarian feed the question is what are the commercial birds fed that is not grain? There is a large amount of animal byproduct used as chicken feed. Then they take the chicken litter and add it to the feedlot ration as a source of non protein nitrogen. Then you get problems like BSE.

Aint recycling wonderful?

Good point. Sometimes I really don't think the consumer takes the time to let it register what the labeling is spelling out.

Yes, recycling is wonderful, if done right.

Greed and stupidity is what leads to your point, not recycling.

How can it be a happy life if it is cut short by a stun gun? When will the lunacy end?

I worked for a meat processor who made hamburger for many Ohio Wendy's locations back in the early '80s. What we used was NOT scrap trim meat. The beef came in big tubs and was some sizable chunks. We couldn't mess around with little scraps in a production environment. I expect the expensive cuts were taken out before the rest was cut up and packed. We adjusted the lean-to-fat content using a fancy instrument and frozen beef fat.

When the last Leftist is run off the planet. Until then we are stuck with this lunacy.
