Tractor in Alabama

Yesterday we moved tons of pea gravel from the old church playground to the new church. We covered the dirt in the fire pit- picnic area. Used a lawn dump cart. Only a few hundred yards to old church, but sure was easier than a wheelbarrow. Then I cut some tall weeds around the back of the church property. Neighbor came over to chat. Ended up in his garden picking turnips! Larry would be proud of this crop! Then off to his barn to check out his Ford 640. Almost 80 degrees yesterday in Alabama.

Bush Hog belly mower did a great job on 7-8 ft tall weeds

Day before yesterday it was in the mid 70s here. Yesterday we got lucky if we hit 40. Today it is cold and been raining half the night. I did get most of the garden covered with manure yesterday so the rain will then help it do its thing

That golden rod chaff and fuzz is awful, I used insect screen on my old ford 850, over the grill, stop and shake off every so often. I used to cut this place 1x per year, late summer or beyond, the weed chaff, dust, fuzz on an open station tractor was no fun. Now I cut early and usually 2x, grasses and the rest stay green, easier cutting too. I forgot some paths this year though, all dried up goldenrod, loaded up with fuzz in no time ! That plant is apparently a Rhizome and rubber can be made from it. Usually get it no later than flowering stage, it's been 7' tall here in some spots over the years.

Sounded like a fun day!
