Case 1394 tractor

It is a David Brown tractor.

Engine is good. Big cab but very poor view.
Gearbox is not the strongest but is easy to repair.
Parts availability might be a problem, but not catastrophic if you have access to UK parts distributors. Just did clutch split on one and surely enough, splitting that tractor is different than many, but very easy.

The neighbour has one split for a clutch replacement.the pto shaft pulled out from the rear end in the prices of splitting. Does any one have an idea of how to get the shaft back into the splines at the rear without pulling the back of the tractor apart? This tractor looks like a machine that a mechanic would not like. It would not be my first choice for a tractor.
Ranch.

I had a 1490. I sold it and bought a ten year newer, 35 more HP Ford. I wish that I had kept the 1490. It was very economical to run.

I'd personally avoid if it's the hydra-shift, but arguably if it's a hydra-shift and still running fine it's likely a good tractor.

David Brown lineage and solid enough really. I wouldn't rule oneout if nice condition, keep in mind that series were orphaned in favor of the IH built tractors that size by Case-IH if that says anything. Case-IH only sold the 1394/1494/1594 to offer a 4 speed power shift and 6cyl power (that the 85 series didn't have) until the Maxxum was ready in 89.

We have 2 1594's. 85 HP non-turboed 6cyl. Very easy on fuel and nice to drive. They have their problems like every tractor, but have had nothing major. No problem getting parts.

The Maxxum was going to be David Browns next tractor. The 1394 is like all DB 4cyl
tractors as it has a 3 bearing crankshaft. Work it hard and you will have no trouble
with it. MJ.

parts for the David Browns are far, far easier to get today than even 10 years ago. Don't be concerned in that regard.

give me a ballpark on what yours was getting?

If you are asking about hours/gal. no I am sorry. That was along time ago. You could still just run it until it is time to fuel and measure how much it takes.
