Can I replace 3304 with a different engine?

I have a CAT 955L with a 3304. The engine has a hole in the block. I'm looking for a 3304 or will another engine will fit?

Look in Rock and Dirt parts section for companies
with used motors in stock. Adelmans In Akron Ohio , for example,br>has a large selection of Cat. Can you install a
different motor? Yes, you can do anything with
enough time and money. But to spend 2-3 times as
much to do a transplant as opposed to a direct bolt-
in 3304, is just pointless to me; there is not a thing
wrong with the 3304.
