I've been going through some 8mm film my family had. Here's a local fair pull, Frederick, Maryland, 1973.

I was pretty excited and just recorded this on my phone off the wall, so excuse the quality. We're going to get these all converted over to digital.

Abused, maybe. Just farmers having fun.
These mostly just had the pumps turned up.
At least 2 of these tractors are still
farming today within a few miles of me, 2
more were put back to stock later and
lived long lives on the farm. And the
crazy, bouncing, single front wheeled 4020
is restored to looking like this and still
pulling on the nostalgia circuit. Those
are just the few that I recognize.

Those naturally aspirated tractors made a lot of smoke when the pump was cranked but they didnt have much more snort.

"Just farmers having fun"

AMEN to that and X2, JL2510!

Putting on a smokeshow for the duration of a "pull" is pretty harmless vs. cranking the fuel rate up and overloading it for hours on end in the field.

Made 400$ my first tractor pull took 3rd against a couple cases and international the kind that take several seconds before they finally take off and run

Thanks for the post 2510--Brings back a lot of memories!--A rough track-You were lucky if they had a 3-point blade-A dusty track-The local volunteer fire dept. put 500 gal. on it the night before and by 1 in the afternoon it was a cloud of dust--BUT the beer was cold and we all had a good time!---Tee

My Dad pulling his 3020 in the early 70's--notice the step-on sled

There a step on sled in the middle of this video. Same time frame.

All these guys are relatives or friends. My Grandfather's generation. They were all hard working dairy farmers blowing off steam.

It's always satisfying when it works that way. My brother and I pull antique and farmstock. Got a few 730 diesels and our Grandad's original 4020. We pull with a good group of guys and have a lot of fun at it.

That was a neat film from 1973..

51 years ago back in August 1970 I won the 15,000 lb class at the first ever Ozark Empire Fair tractor pull held in Springfield,MO...I was pulling a walk on sled and made the only full pull in the class..My little brother drove the tractor 100 miles down and back..We didnt have a truck capable of hauling it.

51 years later my little brother is gone and I'm now pulling a Hot Stock 1466 IH in a MSTPA 12.5 MPH class...Here I am winning the class at my home town pull in September 2021...I was also fortunate enough to win the 2021 MSTPA 10500 Hot Stock points title....Tee,those rear wheels I bought from you got the job done..

NOT the wheels--It is all your driving skill!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thought I drove a longways to my first tractor pull--When I was a Jr. in HS unhooked my Dads 860 Ford from the turd spreader--drove it 25 mi. to the county fair and got last place---Tee

My friend and I were recruited from the spectators to step on the sled That was at the Waukesha county fair around 1970. The dark horse was a Coop that showed up the Allis Chalmers and Farmalls

Not chrome SV--My Dad thought silver paint looked better than black--To each his own! It was his 3020 so he can do what he wanted---Tee

From what I heard, it was at a deadweight
pull recently. Front came up and the
wheely bars either broke or weren't long
enough. Driver jumped off and was ok.
