Have insurance which is required by most loan institutions.

I'm guessing the owner of the tractor and combine is legally liable for any damages the criminal created. Just like your car or truck.

There was machinery stolen around us years ago. My rule is now every machine goes in the chain-linked fenced yard at night and every key is removed. There are signs on the fence saying that there's video surveillance. So far, - so good.

I remember back in my home town many years ago, vandals took several carts from the local golf course and played bumper cars with them. Immediately folks started pointing fingers at the 'usual suspects', kids from the wrong side of the tracks known for causing mischief. But of course the real culprits couldn't keep their mouths shut, and it came out that it was several star high school athletes who did it.
