oliver super 77

just wonder why this 77 has this style of front rims? the ones i have seen are open rims with the heavy hubs.

From what i understand they could be ordered with the heavy front wheels (the ones you describe) or the light ones (sheet metal) as seen here, although these are a universal implement wheel, the original olivers just had enough holes for the bolts.
 
I have a normal row crop S77. I didnt know they made them in standard, dont see many standard rigs here in row crop country.

The standard where the low profile Oliver's. And they where called a 77 Standard or 88 standard but where supers as for engines. Fewer of them where made also
 
i looked in my oliver book that is a standard tread. the row crop had holes in the tub for the cultivator pipes . the standard tread and industrial models didnt have the holes in the tub
 
All of the Supers I have seen had the bosses with threaded bolt holes instead of pipe holes.
The plain 66-77-88 had the holes.
