It is 9 ft. pull type. I'm looking to buy. Price seams right. I bale several miles of ditch hay. Will a rotary work in the ditches?

By rotary rake do you mean tedder ? We have a 2 basket deutz fahr tedder pto driven. Like mentioned check the gearboxes. Ours is I believe aluminum. I know its not steel. Dad broke ours when the tines dug into the dirt while crossing a few shallow ruts in the field. Broke both gearboxes. We had them tig welded back together. Following year he did the same thing, only after that they were beyond repair. We found replacements off a Deutz not a deutz fahr that were heavier and thats whats on it now. We no longer use it in that field because it has rough spots. Replacement parts were around 7 or 8 hundred dollars.

Had one for a few years. The arms arent very strong and tend to fly apart. The little bearings that follow on the cam can be expensive to replace. We bought some that were very close in size and made them work for much cheaper. Also if its not a tandem it will rock on uneven ground and miss some hay. On flat fields it did a nice job!

I tried rotaries two different times and decided to stick with my rollabar. The way ditches are made for modern roads they are pretty much road smooth so if that it the type of ditch that you have I think that it would work well.
