Case 830CK part 3 up and running!

The ignition parts I ordered from John Saeli arrived Friday afternoon so I went to work getting the Case running again. I took the advice you guys gave me and replaced one component at a time starting with the points. After installing them the tractor started right up confirming they were the main issue. It still had a miss which i found was at cylinder 2. I put the new plugs in and still had the miss so I went ahead and made up the new wires and put on the new cap and rotor. That solved the issue, starts up and runs smooth now.

Here are some pictures of the parts I replaced.

I said before that I have owned this tractor 10 years. My friend I bought the loader from reminded me its been almost 20 years! Time flys! So I can confirm none of this has been touched for 20 years and I would say its a safe bet its really 30! Id say thats some pretty good reliability. Another project marked off the list. Thanks for your help and advise!

Thanks for the results info. more than 50% of the time we never get to find out what fixed the issue. Sequence of parts installation is critical. Jim

Thanks! At one time I was making plans to paint the whole tractor but I decided not to since it original and in pretty good shape. I know the loader doesnt quite look right being green but I decided on this one function beat out looks! Maybe some day!

the spark plugs look in good shape yet . nice flat electrode. engine is in good shape yet as they are not all carboned up. that fouling would be pretty normal for a loader tractor. points have a bit of pitting looks like u cleaned them. rotor and cap is bad, looking like the rotor tab got bent and rubbed the cap out at the terminals. should have more of these posts! thanks.

Jim,
I always try to give updates for that reason. Its kind of aggravating to never find out what happens with a project. Thank you for the help!

Rustred, I thought about cleaning up the plugs and saving them but they were so rusty where the wires snap on I said to heck with it and pitched them! I did try to clean the points. I did save them with hopes I could dress them if I had to. Thank you.

You would be surprised how good it would look with the right polish/cleaner and some elbow grease!!!
