Massey Bottom plow on 5303 Deere setup

I have a 3-14 massey ferguson plow i am trying to use with a 5303 John Deere. The top link is not in alignment to pull straight, but the bracket doesnt align with the optimum draw point of the plow. I have used it, but worried this may damage my top link or 3 point hitch. Any advice? This appears to be the way the plow was made. Does anyone have any input?

the operator manual for Ferguson plows is on line. you adjust the tracking by rotating the cross shaft. google Ferguson 14 AO 28 plow.

Thank you for the reply. My main concern is the alignment if the top link. Doesnt look right, but that is where the bracket places the link. Other plows i have seen, the link is more or less centered on optimum draft point, 4 inches off the middle plow, more or less.

Some of those corresponding tractors allowed you to move
the base of the toplink over to match the plow mast. Might be
something to look into in the manual. In which case your
Deere toplink setup would now be optimized for that plow.

By your first pic, it looks like the shaft the two point arms are on needs to be moved over and that would align your center link. Most are adjusted by a collar with a set screw, so loosen screw(s) and side shaft over. Maybe you or last operator cheated, and didn't want to move rear wheel or couldn't.

I agree with Dieseltech that the rear tires are set too wide for the plow. The lower links should be at the same angle from the tractor centerline but it appears that yours are shifted
off to the right side to get the plow positioned correctly to the right wheel which in turn what is causing the third link to be so offset.

Look at the plow, by itself. I just looked up parts manual
for this and maybe someone conerted this plow from a 2
bottom to a 3 bottom and didnt change the top link
bracket? I have owned this plow for 20 years and only
used it a few times.

You are so right he needs to slide the cross shaft over to center the plow and then adjust his wheels to the plow.

Looks to me like the 3pt arms are drawn
all the way to the right side which is why
the 3rd arm is not straight. Get the arms
all straight and move the tires in to work
correctly

For a similar plow - John Deere F-125, the wheel setting from the tractor center line to the inside of the wheel is 25 for a 14 plow and 27 for a 16 plow.

I think you need to set your right hand wheel in and slide the plow on the cross shaft.

Plow looks like it's being held to the right with the sway chains, the hitch should be centered on the tractor.

Your wheels are set way too wide for a plow. Going to guess they need dished all the way in to work right.

The top link issue should fix itself one hitch & wheels are right.

The plow does not use stabilizers. It will center itself and must be free to swing side to side. If you have the stabilizers locked unlock them and allow the plow to center then set the wheels properly.
