Oil filter help Ford 1210

I bought an oil filter for my Ford 1210. However its smaller than the filter that is on the tractor. The one on the tractor is part number 8656623. The new one is 86546623. Will the new one work?

Do some research online.

See what is called for across several brands. There are internal differences in filters. Even though it may screw on and not leak, there can be differences in the drain back valve, the bypass spring, the micron rating.

In my opinion, bigger is better, but the manufacturers don't always tell you that.

Running both of those numbers in the Fram cross-reference sections gets nothing, but I do have an old NAPA paper filter book.
Is this Ford 1210 a 16 hp diesel unit built from 1983-1986? NAPA book shows a 1396 lube, 3264 fuel and a 6270 air.
Probably not what you are looking for, but someplace to go if you are still uncertain about your current filters.

Same number with extra digit, and one other digit just one number off?? My first guess is, the wrong one may have been grabbed off the shelf. I'd take new one back, along with the number of old one. Inquire about it where you bought it at. If wrong, you'll want to return the new one anyways, and get the right one.
I got to watch the counter guys at my local parts store. They frequently make mistakes. I like to catch thier mistakes at the stote if I can, so I don't have to return. I frequently take old parts with me, so I can compare to thier new ones, right there in the store. Saves me the arguing part too.

8656623 Is to short of a part number for CHN your missing the 4. CNH probably switched suppliers over the years for that filter. 86546623 subs to part number 47427154. If you got the filter from a New Holland dealer I would say your ok.

if it has the same size threads and the o ring is in the same spot it should work. just like G.M. was before or may still be... they had long and short filters. short was for tight place.

The Wix lookup site says it will.

The first number you posted doesn't show up on the Wix site.
