FORD model N 1952

Hi everyone, I never had a tractor before and know nothing about it.... I need to be advise.I would like to buy a Ford model N 1952, before I would like to know if it's possible to Add an excavator digging in the back of the tractor?

Thanks, Michel

I have a late model 1950 8N Ford and it has a Scout backhoe on it and a Dearborn 19-71 loader so yes it can be done but it is all it wants to have and be able to move

That's a really small tractor for that.

Be better to find something bigger already set up, even if it needs a little work.

You would be better served with an actual tractor loader backhoe (TLB) will have much better hydraulics and stronger machine from the get go. Your money your choice. An N series would be one of the last options I would have for a tractor of any purpose.

I am a big fan of the early 50's 8N tractor, as I have two of them. However, as everyone else has noted I will chime in and say that the 8N is not a good platform for any kind of digging, trenching, or loading tool.

I have even stopped the 8N engine with a 12" auger before breaking the shear pin, so it's not very powerful. once you add the hyd pump, and the backhoe attachment to the back of a ~27HP engine, it's just going to bog down and make you miserable.

Start with a 641, 741, or 800 or 900 series which are all old Ford models. They will have around 40HP and up and are much more suitable to a attached backhoe.

In addition to the 8Ns, I now have an 860 and recently a 961. These are excellent farm tractors and make decent if not perfect utility or dirt tractors. Both have loaders with power steering, and I can use the auger, blade, or brush hog without worrying the engine will bog and stop.

I have a 52 8N and its a good tractor
I mow with it ,
I had a Wagner Loader on it but I took it off after I got my backhoe
the loader is available if you are interested.
I am in Pennsylvania.

I think I gave bad advice above. I was going to put a backhoe on my 961, but it appears not suitable for that. Get a bigger newer tractor, or a dedicated backhoe.
