about 30 years ago i was at an estate sale and bought a box of junk for $1. in in was 12 issues of the Southern Planter farm magazine from 1954. it looked like your typical farm magazine with various articles including some with recipes for the farmer's wife and lots of ads. I took a few pictures of some of the ads. The magazines are about 11x17 so they aren't easy to scan.
here is the New Idea ad from one of the fall issues. i'm afraid i cut off the corn picker and an elevator sections at the top. Neighbor back home had that NI loader on his WC Allis Chalmers. they took the PTO off and put the hydraulic pump in its place. it was narrow front and miserable to drive but beat using a shovel. exhaust manifold was shot and no battery. 3 cranks and it always started even though it was only run 1 or 2x per year. 1 crank no choke, 1 with choke, and the 3rd with choke and it would pop off.
