POST OAK, GREEN...WE HEAT W/ EAGLE FURNACE, FROM MINN...EXCELLENT...ON PALLETS, DO I COVER IT W/TRUCK TARPS, OR LEAVE EXPOSED, TO DRY?? IZ 4 NEXT YR...BESIDE 44 J.D. D...BE BLESSED, GRATEFUL, PREPARED...

It would be best to keep rain off of it but would need to get air to season better so don't wrap it. Might lay some 2x4's across the top and fold a tarp to make almost an umbrella.

Keep rain water off. And, it needs to breath air. Be better if its stacked so the ends are exposed, and not stacked in a way that the ends are tight together.

What I have noticed is the most common procedure is stacks with tin roofing over them held down by pieces of firewood.

Lots of good advice here, always have it up off the ground, pallets work well. I keep my tarp away form the sides so the water doesn't soak in, and the air can get through the pile. This is what I have ready to sell next year, I'm going to Arizona tomorrow!

You have to keep it dry but you also have to let the air move through the pile as well. Pallets work well to keep the wood off the ground and allows air to circulate up through the bottom of the pile.
This is how I store my wood. It seasons very well and stays dry. Even an occasional driving rain or snow storm has very little effect and if the ends get wet, they dry off quickly. I hold the tarps down with old tire chains as they are heavy and conform to the pile. A couple of years ago I picked up about a dozen 6 ft. long heavy rubber floor mats out of a diner. They work even better than chains. Now,..... I have intentions of building a nice woodshed but I've had those intentions going on now for 10 or 12 years. LOL
