Despite the fact we get a lot of winter up here (including a good blast today), I've never been on one of those. People travel unreal distances to mountain areas here and in some instances, have caused avalanches seeing how high they can swoop despite signs telling them not to, and senseless deaths occur every winter as a result. The term 'snowmobile' now seems to have been replaced with the term 'sled' amongst the younger crowd, the oldies still use the original term.

CH, I guess that proves that at 72 I am still part of the "younger crowd" since I have been calling them sleds for thirty years or so, LOL. Here in the northeast we stay pretty much on the trails, although there is a very popular off trail area in Quebec in the Chic Choc mountains. Mine is a 140 HP turbo-charged Arctic Cat that will cruise at 100MPH yet has no cab.

We never go alone. We always have at least four of us together.
