2022-what are you buying soon

On the other forum recently a poster wrote that he has a round baler belting business and fully anticipates shortages/long wait times for baler belts next year. It prompted the question, with all the shortages, inflation, and other issues lurking out there, imagined or not, what are you looking to purchase to cover yourself 'in case? Been hearing bad things about fertilizer for example.

On the fertilizer specifically, I hear "bad things" about every other year. Price is doubled or is going to double blah blah blah... Bought MORE fertilizer in 2020 than 2019 and the bill was the same.

Nobody really knows what's going to happen and buying into the panic just adds to it.

It's 5 months before we even have to think about field work around here. A lot can happen in 5 months. Businesses are losing big money and they have a vested interest in getting the supply chain straightened out. Even if you're making more money per unit sold, if you don't have any units to sell you're out of business.

I will get my silage bags as I have a 7ft. bagger and that is an odd size. I have enough for spring but will get the ones I need for next fall. Still have a year supply of net wrap. If my coop has chemicals I will get them soon. Maybe some baler twine for small squares as well. Need to stock the shop bolt bin for winter projects and a few rolls of good quality roller chain. New Holland has a big tractor sale going on. CaseIH is trying to match them. John Deere only has E tractors in stock so I pretty well gave up on them. Have a new Farmall 120C being delivered this week. Looking to buy more things before the end of the year. I'm not buying all this talk about the economy going south. For me, things have never looked better.

I usually pay for all seed, fertilizer, and chem. in Dec. I can't get a quote on dry fertilizer as they can't promise they'll have it! I've wanted for a long time to switch to liquid fert in my planter. I'm trying to figure out how to make that happen. I'm also shopping for a 100 HP cab tractor.

Yep, I had a fairly long talk with my fertilizer dealer a week and a half ago. A lot can happen in the next few weeks but no price until it is at least on the rail car heading his way.

Just finished mounting my new diesel tank on a trailer so I'll be filling that up.Thinking about how many more Silver Eagles I want to get.Always looking for a bargain on a tractor.

I'm going to get a new disk mower. My old Vicon is still in excellent shape but I need to spend some money in 2021 for tax purposes. What kind should I get?

Fertilizer in our area for hay is up to $850 per ton, it increased $275 per ton this year.

My neighbor just got done fertilizing his field before winter and it cost him around $3500 total for 80 acres.

I just picked up a super nice, but older, Oliver manure spreader. Hoping I can offset some fertilizer cost by going old school.

I just bought a brand new Pottinger Tera Dic RT . Its a minimum tillage tool, chops corn stalks and sod and can be used for seed bed preparation. Today I bought a 4 ton floor jack, $250.00 . The way I look at it , everything is expensive, so just buy what you need and can pay for. And if you cant pay for it, dont buy it.

was at a big tire dealer today, their comment was that supply issues won't be solved for at least 18-24 months. Same time frame they were told Nov 2020.
